SCREAM CHURCH

Scream Church was a performance and participatory sonic experience created by CHARI that centered public screaming as both ritual and critique. Blending performance, sound, and social engagement, the work invited participants to use the voice as a site for release, resistance, collective expression, and introspection.

Scream Church began with communal public scream gatherings, and evolved into a fictious “public access TV” network featuring a variety of scream centered segments, and a real 1-800 number.  In it’s most recent iteration, Scream Church has evolved into a one person live performance work which debuted at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA.
